Senegal Surf Trip

WayOut Adventures organized a unique trip to the Westernmost point of Africa, Senegal, for Surf lovers, giving them the opportunity to kick off 2018 in the best way.

An unknown to many, different from what you’re used to, country, unspoiled and virgin, a real paradise for surfers. 13 participants had the opportunity to explore this very thing on the trip organized jointly by WayOut Adventures and Ikaria Surf School. Under the guidance of Yiannis Kotileas and Isidoros Plytas, acting as guides from the respective companies, the experience was unforgettable.

Just a few days after the dawn of 2018 and for 10 days, the islet of N'Gor became the team's base. An island just a few minutes away from the capital of Senegal, Dakar, accessible by wooden boats, untouched by modern civilization, since there is no electricity on the island.

Senegal is famous for having suitable beaches for any kind of wind, so the team members had the opportunity to visit several spots in the area, depending on the prevailing weather.

The country's attractions couldn’t be missed of course. The Pink Lake, the Island of Slaves and of course the Dakar bazaar made up for the most wonderful experience in the cultural puzzle of Senegal.

Pelagia Karanikola, one of the girls who participated in this trip, decided to share the unique experience she had with her readers. She wrote an article in LoveSurfing.

"Every day we got to go to a different spot depending on the weather conditions. Yoff, SecretSpot, NgorRight and Yenne. Yoff was the first spot we visited. A vast beach where you see people of all ages playing sports, playing football, running, surfing, dancing, playing music, even washing their goats in the sea. In general, all over Dakar, on the beaches and in its neighborhoods, you come across people running and exercising. Personally, I consider Senegalese people to be among the most fit, beautiful, happy, warm-hearted and hospitable people I have ever met.”

At the end of the trip, the group made a promise to meet again to ride the waves together, chasing their own Endless Summer.

Here’s to the next trip to a corner of the world that will give us memories that will last us a lifetime.

Best wishes,

Yannis & Isidoros
