Kalavryta Mountain
Overview
Remaining faithful to our vision to introduce young men and women to the magical world of the mountain, in collaboration with Trekking Hellas Achaeas we organize a 9-day camp of outdoor activities on the mythical mountain of Helmos. The program is aimed at children aged 10-15 and focuses on creating experiences in the mountain-outdoor environment through education and experiential learning with enjoyable and interactive methods.
Highlights
Children and their contact with nature: As it is established, the age when a child assimilates, adapts, develops and learns more easily and quickly is between 10 and 15 years old. So now is the right time for children to enter the magical world of mountain and skiing. This 9-day educational program with the guidance of the top instructors of WayOut Adventures and Trekking Hellas Achaeas, is the ideal proposal for children's contact with nature and sports, especially at a time when children's daily lives are so intense and busy. Our program has been designed with the aim of physical and mental development of children, the development of life skills and the promotion of values such as mutual help, self-esteem, friendship, love and respect for Nature.
Location:
A unique program with a multitude of activities held on the mythical Mt Helmos, in the village of Kerpini specifically, 10 minutes from Kalavryta. In a mountainous location with an altitude of 1000 m. is the Orias guesthouse that hosts the Helmos youth winter camp. Children will engage in mountain activities, such as hiking, archery, climbing. They will have the opportunity to learn basic rules of the mountain, to discover the flora and fauna of the National Forest as well as get in touch with the history and tradition of the place by following routes of historical importance and participating in agricultural activities in the farm gardens.
Accommodation:
Orias Guesthouse. The children will stay in Orias guesthouse and use all the facilities of the Hotel on the 14 acres of land it occupies. The rooms have a natural decoration, creating the feeling of warmth and familiarity, while having all the comforts. There will be 2-3 children of the same gender and age group in each room, supervised by one Team Leader per 3 rooms located in the same building. There is an intercom for maximum safety of the children. We would like to point out that the cohabitation of friends or siblings in the same chalet is not consistent with the spirit of the Program and we prefer to avoid it. Many of the recreational and educational activities take place in the facilities of the Orias Guesthouse. The purpose of the Program is for the children to spend most, if not all, of their time in the countryside, within the mountainous area of Helmos.
Visiting Day:
Given that the duration of the program is 9 days, there is no specific visiting day. You can visit your child whenever you deem it necessary, always in consultation with the person in charge of the program. Our recommendation is that you avoid visiting because the rhythm of children's lives is disrupted.
